Hi, I\u2019m Milly. I\u2019m the founder of Generalist World. I\u2019m really happy you\u2019re here! Here\u2019s a bit about how this little corner of the internet came to be.<\/p>

This photo represents a really important milestone.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

I live on an island whose population comes in at a grand total of 178 people. It's been a dream since starting <\/span>Generalist World<\/a> to be able to pump money right back into the local economy by hiring folks who live nearby.<\/span>

A global community that contributes to a rural community. How amazing would that be?!<\/span><\/strong>
<\/p>

This clothing line has made that exact dream possible.

When I decided to go ahead with making sustainable merch, I knew I needed help. It dawned on me. What if I could hire someone in Scotland? What if I could hire someone in the highlands?<\/span>

... What if, I could hire someone on this very island?<\/span>

The beauty of a small community is you more or less know everyone. I knew of someone who works in a totally different industry, but by nature is creative, artistic and has an eye for design.<\/span>

I approached Kat with little more thank a blank canvas \u2014 a dream for what this project could be, and she was as delighted as I was.<\/span>

Over a few weeks we sat, sipping coffee, dreaming up designs, snacking on millionaire shortbread (if you know, you know). <\/span>

With our view over the Cuilian mountains, I'm reminded of what's possible. Of what entrepreneurship makes possible. I'm reminded that the stress, the risk, and the years of \"trying to figure it out\" all culminates to this.<\/span>

Getting to make a difference on a global scale, and on a local scale.<\/span><\/p>
